Welcome to Greenacre School Trust
Greenacre is a special school educating children and young people aged 3 - 19 with severe and complex needs.
We moved in to our superb new building in September 2011, were judged by OFSTED to be Outstanding and designated as a National Support School in 2013, and converted to Multi-Academy Trust status in April 2015.
Embedding British Values
At Greenacre School all staff encourage children to express their views, value each other’s views and talk about their feelings, for example when they do or do not need help.
We also support the decisions that children make and provide activities that involve turn taking, sharing and collaboration. We give opportunities to all the children to develop their enquiring minds and we value the questions the children ask one another.
We support children to understand their own and other’s behaviour and its consequences, and learn to distinguish right from wrong. We have done this by creating our ‘good friend’ rules which have helped the children to understand the rules which apply to everyone.
The children are able to develop at their own pace, consequently developing a true sense of themselves.
The staff provide regular opportunities for the children to develop their knowledge, self-esteem and to increase their confidence in their own abilities, for example, through sensory trays, obstacle courses and talking about their experiences and learning.
Both the children and staff foster a mutual respect for one another, we do this by explaining the importance of values such as sharing and respecting each other’s opinions. We also create an ethos of inclusivity by ensuring all of our children are engaged with the wider community. We do this by organising regular trips out & about e.g. to the local park and the local garden centre, we then give the children opportunities to reflect on their experiences.
