What is Opening Doors?

Opening Doors is the Community Interest Company set up by Greenacre School to support students aged between 19 and 35. Students can access this provision up to 5 days per week joining in a variety of activities including hydrotherapy, enterprise opportunities, life skills, key skills development and community access.  Packages are tailor made to support agreed outcomes for students based on their Education Health and Care Plan or Support Plan.
Sessions run between 10am and 4pm Monday to Thursday and between 9am and 3pm on Fridays, young people can access full days, half days or sessions, depending on what their preferences are.

Opening Doors is proud to be on the Barnsley Council Recognised Provider List- a quality mark to show adults looking for packages of care and support in Barnsley that we follow a clear quality framework monitored by BMBC.

Where is the provision based?

The group meet at The Makery, our shop in Barugh Green, or the life skills house located on Victoria Road, Barnsley.  Many sessions take place in community venues across Barnsley. Details of all activities are available on our website- www.openingdoorscic.co.uk

Who can access this?

Any young person with a former statement of learning difficulties or EHCP aged between 19 and 35 can access this provision.

How much will it cost and how will I pay for it?

The cost of the provision is based on the level of support a young person needs, this would be discussed with Todd Cheetham or Lynsey Bloomer and your Social Worker.
To access this provision, young people need to have a Social Worker. The cost of the provision will be provided through an Individual Budget.
